Should I buy the straight or upsweep foot peg mount?

We recommend the upsweep peg mount for most applications. It retains a stock height while moving the peg back slightly - this maximizes ground clearance so your pegs aren’t dragging in ruts or hitting rocks. Every time your footpeg catches on something, it kills your forward momentum and slows you down. Moving the peg back increases the distance between the shifter/brake and peg for adult-sized feet. The upsweep mount is especially important on a stock CRF110 because they sit significantly lower than a stock KLX110. The straight mount is designed for taller bikes including the KLX110L, stock/mods, and full mod bikes with additional ground clearance. The lower peg increases the seat to peg distance and opens up the cockpit of the bike. The most noticeable difference, besides comfort, is improved cornering. By lowering the riders center of gravity, the bike tracks much better during high speed cornering. But this is a double edged sword- you can't corner fast if your footpeg is buried in a rut. Take your typical riding into account when deciding which peg mount will be best for you.

How do I install the foot peg mount?

Please see the full installation guide. The key point is to run the proper hardware. We supply M8x25 grade 10.9 bolts. Before you install the bolts, clean the bottom of the bike thoroughly, and then blow the threaded holes out with compressed air or brake cleaner. Check for damage by first threading in the bolts by hand, and if they don't install fully, you may need to chase the threads with a tap (M8x1.25). When installing the mount, we use a small amount of anti seize on the bolt to prevent any galling of the case threads. Torque to 18 ft-lb (25 N-M). Retorque after the first ride.

Do I need to run a cradle?

A cradle primarily protects the peg mount case bosses from horizontal impacts, much like the skid plate. With the mount covered, it is protected against horizontal impacts from rocks, logs, etc. Most case failures are from a horizontal impacts shearing the case bosses, not the peg mount pulling out.

After a lot of frustration we decided to design and release a Kinetic MX frame cradle for the KLX 110. Most cradles on the market do very little to provide actual support to the peg bolts. They are also typically supplied with very long, low grade peg bolts. This causes two problems: one, it's difficult to line the case bolts up so there is no cross threading when you start the fastener; two, the long bolts stretch and are hard to keep tight.

We wanted to solve a few key issues with our cradle:

-poor ground clearance

-difficult installation

-poor/difficult to service hardware

Our cradle is the easiest to install and offers the absolute best protection on the market.

What pegs work with Kinetic MX foot peg mounts?

Our footpeg mounts work with YZ style foot pegs. 1999 to present YZ 125/250 or YZ-F 250/450 will all fit. We recommend and sell the DRC chromoly footpegs- these are great value footpegs. Good grip, great durability, great price. Foot pegs designed for the stock KLX/CRF 110 peg mounts will not fit our peg mounts, nor will CRF50 pegs. Stock 110 pegs use an 8mm peg pin while we use a 10mm pin, so stock style pegs will not fit. The 10mm pin holds up much better to hard adult riding so you don't end up with bent or worn pins and sagging foot pegs.

Why should I buy a Kinetic MX foot peg mount instead of a different brand?

We have been manufacturing foot peg mounts for almost a decade. In that time, we have figured out what works, and what doesn’t. We manufacture our footpeg mounts from domestically sourced 4130 chromoly steel, with the thickest wall tubing on the market. But the tubing is only the start. While the competition uses stitch welded 1⁄8'' thick tabs, ours are 3/16” thick and fully welded. We also manufacture the peg clevis (The piece that the peg pins to) with the same 3/16” steel and have the largest clevis on the market. Other brands have less material surrounding the peg pin leading to premature ovaling of the hole and sloppy footpegs. You will get years of hard riding on our mount before the pinholes wear out.

Overall, we have designed our foot peg mounts to not only function exceptionally well, but to hold up to heavy hits and crashes better than anything else on the market.
